We probably spent two hours, at least, down by the river just playing among the rocks.
We had permission to collect firewood, which seemed only natural given all the downed trees (we figured we were doing them a favor), but the shadiness and spring rain meant that most of the wood we found was damp. Out in the open, near the river, the wood got hit by that wonderful sunshine, so we were able to find lots of dry pieces and it became our favorite firewood-collecting spot.
Gunnar liked collecting river rocks to bring back home (I had to limit him) as much as he liked throwing them in the river. What child (or adult) can resist throwing rocks into a body of water?
Mags found plenty to explore in the shallow water.
Holly and I went back to the campsite to get some snacks to enjoy riverside, and she insisted on wearing the backpack and carrying back all the juice boxes, fruit leathers, and granola bars. She's an independent girl.
But she still loves to cuddle. . .
