Last week Adah participated in a Missoula Children's Theater production of "Robin Hood" at her school. The MCT is a traveling group that comes into a school on Monday and holds auditions after school. After a couple days of rehearsals with the cast they put on the show for the school on Friday and for the community on Saturday.
Adah was cast as a skunk. Having heard ahead of time that kindergarteners would be skunks, Adah spent the weekend before auditions crawling around the house pretending to be a skunk. “What sound to skunks make?” she asked us. After auditions, Adah wanted to read in our animal encyclopedia to learn all about skunks. She really got into her character; you could say she’s a method actress.
Adah was part of a group of skunks who just wanted to make friends with Maid Marion, but found their stink to be an obstacle. “What’s a skunk to do? When you smell P-U?” they sang. Later the skunks became the stars of the show as they saved the day by scaring away the guards with their smell.
Adah had so much fun she declared, “I wish we could do a play everyday!” After a busy week of after-school rehearsals, I’m happy to have her do it a little less often.

She was a terrific skunk! I'm so glad we could see it. Haley wanted to see Robin Hood again and again after we left.
