Family Summer Vacation, Part 2: The Redwoods

Whilst on our July McMillan family vacation, some of the glorious scenery available to us just miles away were the redwoods.  I hadn't been there in over 20 years, and it was a-mazing.  Have you seen those suckers?  They are HUGE!  I don't think that photographs can ever really convey the majesty of being amongst these giants.  A good friend of mine ended up camping in the same forest just a week after we were there.  She told me they were "awesome, in the true sense of the word."  I agree.

Nevertheless, here are photos taken on the Stout Grove trail in Jedediah Smith State Park, to give you some idea of the beautiful, gigantic trees, and the fun that we had exploring them.

Note: Damon's brother Jotham and his family were on this trip, too, but his kids were afternoon nappers and thus missed some of the photo op activities featured thus far in the vacation recounting.  Also, Damon's dad can't walk far, so he stayed in the Stout Grove parking lot.

Anyone have some ice cream cones to go with this banana slug?
